Laffey says the country is "going down". The United States' national debt (actually, it is yours and mine) is just short (about $180 billion dollars) of $$$33,000,000,000,000-- this is 33 trillion dollars. The interest payment (think about how the length of time until the bonds need to be refinanced-- it's in the video). The interest payment alone on the debt will soon be 1 trillion dollars. Your share of the debt, and every taxpayer's share, is now almost $254,000. And, that doesn't include your share of your state's and local gov. debt, which is easily another $11,000. Even if we all signed over our homes to the government, the debt would likely not be wiped out [never mind that you wouldn't have a place to live unless you kicked all the illegals out of the hotel rooms you're paying for]. Don't worry about the inflation, which is probably around 16% or more. Don't worry about the dollar loosing it's claim of being the "petro dollar" or the world's "reserve" (fiat) currency. The world's countries are avoiding using the dollar for their gas/oil purchases and other trading. Have you heard of BRICS?
So, I guess that's what Steve Laffey means when he said the country is going down. Our dollars are rapidly losing their value through inflation. Nobody wants to use our dollar. We are just about bankrupt. Who is going to bail us out? Even the FED can't print that much money (The FED is a large part of the cause and they want to raise interest rates some more which will cause more inflation).
