Driven by his super ego, Trump is always right, always wins. The rest of the globe is not viewing global events through his lens. We went from a weak, spineless president to one with a steel spine that is smashing his brain. It is one thing to deal from a position of strength, leverage, to being an outright bully. For the last 75 years, the Empire of America has been imposing itself on the entire globe in one fashion or another. We have forced our fiat/petro currency on the world. Those who have not complied have been given a nasty taste of our military might. Well, the majority of countries are getting sick and tired of being bullied, under the heel of America. The lack of the dollar being backed by nothing but the "faith and credit" of the US government and being used as leverage has driven nations from the dollar. They don't want to engage in commerce with the dollar nor do they want to buy our debt (Treasuries)-- in fact, some countries are unloading their dollars. Certain countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and others) are organizing as trading partners. The ultimate goal of which is to unseat the dollar as the world's reserve currency. In an effort to stave off the dollar dumping, Trump has unloaded an ever changing tariff scheme. There seems to be no plan or rhyme and reason to it. Which country is paying how much in tariffs seem to change on Trump's thought of the moment. This is making countries less enamored with America and its Federal Reserve printed monopoly money. Trump's tariff scheme is also giving the stock market a bad case of the jitters. Millions of American workers and retirees (especially hitting the disappearing middle class) have lost billions, maybe trillions, of their retirement money. This cannot be good for the American economy. Trump calls it a little short term pain. He can afford the loss, but we can't. Friends and enemies alike are getting awful leery of the Trump super ego. Remember when he said he would end the Russian/Ukraine war in a couple of days? The Art of the Deal doesn't work when neither party wants to bend to the Trump ego. Now, he appears ready to ditch the effort to save his reputation. As you said, Steve, you cannot treat people badly and expect good results. Hopefully, Trump has a couple of competent advisors who get Trump to tone down his ego.
"We went from a weak, spineless president to one with a steel spine that is smashing his brain." So true Mr. Freedom and thank you. As an aside I am on a ship in the Atlantic and sitting next to a Canadien at a comedy show...BTW it was so funny as the comedian, Buddy Fitzpatrick might as well as been just from my hometown Neighborhood of Edgewood, RI by the way, he talked and the way he told jokes it was sort of like sit around, listening to some of my friends growing up. But anyway, the Canadian person to my left and I were talking about politics and at one point, he just said "don't worry, we all know (Meaning Canadiens) it's just one person." so there is some hope. But not much.!
Poor Canada, going from the weirdo socialist Trudeau (rumored to be the illegitimate son of Fidel Castro) to the Marxist Carney, a WEF/King upChuck disciple. They better play nice with Trump or their economy might collapse.
Edgewood was a great place. It had a strong, middle class ethic. It was the personification of the American Dream of the 50's-80's sitcoms. The men worked hard, the women tended to the house and the kids played hard (esp. in sports) and were mischievous. Days and dreams gone by and likely not to happen again.

Enjoy your cruise.
sadly, you may be correct Mr. Freedom!
