Wyatt Sharpe is truly a young Star in the making and I am glad to talk with him and to Canadiens about the foolish and dangerous actions of Pres. Trump on Trade.
It's rather difficult to figure what Trump will do. He's like throwing your pasta on the wall to see if it is cooked. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. Tariffs on Canada will definitely put a wrench on GM. All of their trucks (and, I think, SUVs) are made in Canada. That would put a pick-up in the $100,000 range, over $125,000 for a loaded one. Imagine a fully equipped Cadillac SUV pushing $200,000. The prices are too high now. Who could afford to buy one with a 25% tariff added? It would be nice if he thought things through before speaking.
Hi Steve. The U.S. automotive industry has deep ties with Canada and Mexico. You might remember during Trump's 1st term he and Ford CEO had a spat about Ford building another assembly plant in Mexico. They want the cheap, nonunion, non American labor. Well......that is until Biden threw billions of our taxpayer money at Ford and GM to build BEV's and then like a miracle, they were being built right here in America by union labor. It all unfolded during COVID pandemic and even though they couldn't get microchips for their vehicles in the quantity they needed, the profit per vehicle was so huge, they starved their ICE vehicle production to feed the BEV lineup of TWO vehicles.....the F150 Lightning and that abortion of a SUV, the Mustan Mach E which I labeled, the Mach Edsel!
When they ran out of rich people to buy those vehicles, Biden was wandering away from reporters, meandering off into the bush, probably looking for that mystical hand to shake and the BEV sales were plummeting because "Joe Six Pack" didn't have an extra $90,000 for a F150 Lightning truck.
Trump is not just playing checkers with Canada and Mexico, he's including Ford, especially. GM is already pivoting in a good way. Oh, and just 2 days ago, I read that Ford suddenly has a plan to rival China's cheap BEV's. Really? So, why didn't Ford do that in the first place? I believe Trump is playing 3 dimensional chess with Canada, Mexico (who initially told Trump they weren't doing anything about the border and then......like another miracle, had 10,000 troops to supposedly, go to the border to help.
Biden, Harris and the Obama leftovers have left us in deep trouble. I'm not sure even Ronald Reagan could dig us out of the hole but I do know this.....if the giggler, former VP had "won" in November, we could have kissed this country a final goodbye.
Hmmm...the three dimensional chess game ..!! Blessings to you and thanks my friend!! I appreciate all your knowledge on the auto industry! We should put you in charge of something!

Fingers crossed at this point.
God bless you and God bless America!

Probably not very original but still better than Crazy Eights that Biden was playing, lol.
Me? In charge of something? How about you take over the CEO position at an auto company and we'll work side by side and make it fantastic?
Lots of salient points here by steve.
Thanks Michael!
