"We, as a Country, Should Change This." Laffey- The Terrible Treatment of Native Americans Continues Unabated. Laffey on with Lakey. 9/13/23
It makes me sick to my stomach.
3:08 “We, as a country, should change this.”
I had read the article below and was so saddened and angered by another article, one of hundreds over the years, to tell of the plight of native people stuck on reservations.
From the article:
“Several thousand Native Americans, some from as far away as Montana, might have been lured to the Arizona homes, according to officials. Instead of getting help, some reported rampant drug use and drinking in the homes and little in the way of rehab.”
Several Thousand? Huh.
“According to Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, the amount of Medicaid reimbursement money the state paid out to facilities under the billing code used for substance-abuse treatment jumped from $53 million in fiscal year 2019 to $668 million in fiscal year 2022. While those totals include payments to legitimate operators, Mayes said it was the extreme growth that signaled to authorities something was amiss. “
So, think of the above paragraph. Over 3-4 years a line item in the Federal Budget goes up…12 fold!!!…and NOW they are investigating fraud!
Read it again…” Attorney General…Mayes said it was the extreme growth that signaled to authorities something was amiss.”
So, AFTER the fact…the EXTREME growth SIGNALED something was amiss.
HMMM. Three stooges would have figured it out faster.
Now here are some of the other 100s of articles and evidence that nothing ever gets better for American Indians living on reservations.
Like the terrible public schools not teaching our kids this fall, this mistreatment of the vulnerable will go on unabated. There is no one running for anything, other than me, who would do something about it.
Everyone go to work, but today more kids are being abused, more lousy DRS. are being assigned to treat American Indians, more American Indians will die young, abuse alcohol, get sexually abused than anywhere else in America. Oh, but the Casino thing made people think they were doing something for them...yes?
Oh yes, then we move onto the public schools and higher education. Enjoy the football games, must be fun to be able to not think of parents continuing to take out Parent Plus Loans and going broke 20 years from now. But not today. So enjoy.
At 4:00 regarding higher education: “It’s like taking 10 ibuprofens at once, eventually your stomach will bleed out. You think your solving your sore shoulder problem, but your not.
And it goes on. Think any of this will be a debate question next week?
