Laffey and Daily Signal's Tony Kinnett Join Great Host Armstrong Williams on His National Show!
Love being on with both of these guys. I learned a lot from both of them.
You can watch the segment here. Armstrong introduces me at 22 seconds into the segment. I'm not a journalist, I'm not a senator, I didn't become president so his choice of words are humbling.
But there's a funny backstory to this. It's 6:52 PM Eastern time. (I live in mountain time.) and I just walked in from working out hadn't shaved that day yet and the phone rings. It's Armstrong and he says, “did you get my message?” and I say, “No, whats going on.” and he says., “can you come on the show tonight? We had a guest that was coming on, but he had to cancel at the last minute.” and I say,”Yes.” Then I ask, “when do you need me on?” and he says., “In eight minutes.” And I say, “no problem, just have Aaron send me the link and I'll be ready.”
Now I have no idea how I will get ready in time.. as I am covered in sweat and unshaven but I hang up, run upstairs, shave with cold water,(I did stick in a brand new blade!) and without showering, whip on some clothes that you see, never took off the shorts and and headed to my office… and was ready to go eight minutes later!
I do not know Tony Kinnett, but he seems to be a great guy. I never really know who I'm going on with or what the questions are going to be and that's one reason why I love so much being on with Armstrong Williams. Only once have I had to say to one of his questions., “I don't know.”
Armstrong comes to me at 2:10 about the financial challenges facing America and I go over what I think Pres. Trump should do and at ,3:00 I turn to the debt situation. At 3:19 I correctly call what is the giant problem with President Trump. “The problem with Donald Trump in his first 100 days, does he have his act together to get any legislation passed in the first couple of weeks ready to go? I don’t think he does.” (And he did not.) “They will rely on Presidential edicts, they will go to court,” (and they did and they do.)
Add five minutes and six seconds into it I love Tony's reference to a need for a “deregulation festival.” that is a great line. I will use it!
At 5:40 Armstrong comes back to me about executive orders.
At 7:35 I come on again…now only Armstrong Williams would ask this question…and it’s a great question, but you will only hear it from him and no other place in America…that’s why he is the best at this. “Steve Laffey what does the president need to do to set a moral objective that ethics, character, integrity matters?”
Line of the year…!!
I come back in at 9:21 and talk about “Easy Victories” (none of what we have so far…this is the problem with Pres. Trump) and what to do about CEOs who hire Illegal Aliens…(watch Tony nod at around 13:30 and interject “Absolutely Right”!)
at 16:42 I come back on after some excellent thoughts from Tony. and Talk about Trump will have a legacy…but he needs to fix one gigantic problem to help the debt. I talk about Social Security and Health Care. Tony then has some great points and at around 22:20 Armstrong comes to me and asks what the people need to do..
Rome!
